Brazil, July - August 2022: Pousada Piuval
A great place to spend a few days. Pousada Piuval is a short drive south from Cuiabá, so Brazilians use it as a resort area. A comfy place with a great restaurant and pool, and good forest habitat close by. We got great views of a Giant Anteater, a Fishing Bat, and Yellowish Pipit. We had good looks at Aplomado Falcon and several other raptors.

| Capybara. They are habituated to humans and come close to the lodge here.
 |
| |
| Cattle Tyrant. Common on the ground at the lodge. |
| |
| Chestnut-eared Araçari. |
| |
| Coscoroba Swan. This bird was way out of range, since it is normally found
to the south; it had been present for
a few days before we arrived.

| |
| Ferruginous Pygmy-owl |
| |
| Giant Anteater. An incredible stroke of luck to have one wandering the fields at Pousada Piuval. Found by one of the cowboys.
(Piuval is a working cattle ranch.)
